The Whisperers are coming to collect what is theirs in the latest teaser for The Walking Dead.

In a new preview posted at Entertainment Weekly, Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) are seen ripping the sickening skin mask off someone they’ve managed to capture from the group. (We can’t tell for sure yet who it is, but they’ve later got Lydia (Cassady McClincy) in custody, so it’s probably her.)

Lydia is the daughter of none other than Alpha (Samantha Morton) herself, and she’s got a dreadful warning for the Alexandrians who’ve taken her hostage. “My mom, you don’t mess with her,” she coolly tells Daryl from her shoddy cell. Shudder.

Everything We Know About the Rest of The Walking Dead Season 9

The trailer also offers a better look at Carol (Melissa McBride) doing her best impression of Legolas from The Lord of the Rings while Tara (Alanna Masterson) takes charge to find out what — and who — is responsible for the shocking takedown of Jesus (Tom Payne) in the midseason finale.

Our heroes don’t know the Whisperers very well just yet, but it looks like they’re about to be more formally introduced. Will Lydia be the bargaining chip they need to reason with these maniacs, or are they so far gone in their whole “one with the walkers” pastiche that they’ll still try to turn everyone else into their walker pals, too?

We’ll find out when The Walking Dead returns to AMC on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 9/8c on AMC.
