2019’s award season festivities continue on in full force this weekend with the 25th Screen Actors Guild Awards celebrating thespian achievements in both film and television.
This year, the show will be hosted by Will and Grace star Megan Mullally, and with those Academy Award nominations fresh in hand ahead of the show, the SAGs are going to be even more essential than the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards in helping everyone fill out those Oscar ballots for the office pool.
Here’s everything we know about the 2019 SAG Awards so far.
How to watch:
The SAG Awards will air on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 8/7c on TNT and TBS. Subscribers to those channels can also watch the show live online via the TNT and TBS websites, as well as your favorite streaming devices through the TNT and TBS apps. International audiences will also have several options for tuning into the show, listed at the SAG-AFTRA website.
What to expect:
Whether Green Book and Bohemian Rhapsody will continue to trounce on A Star Is Born‘s momentum for best motion picture remains to be seen, as does The Kominsky Method‘s continued impact on the small screen side. One person fans can expect to take the stage on Sunday to collect one of the coveted actor trophies is Alan Alda, recipient of the SAG Life Achievement Award Recipient, presented by Tom Hanks.
Audiences can also expect to see some of the honorees and presenters participate in the annual “I Am An Actor” montage that takes place with each show. The SAGs are a little less low-key than the Golden Globes, but they aren’t quite as high brow as the Oscars either, so expect to see the stars have some fun with their speeches and red carpet appearances.
Ahead of the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the official red carpet pre-show will be hosted by People, Entertainment Weekly and TNT, beginning at 5:30/4:30c. The pre-show will be live-streamed at PeopleTV, sagawards.org, tntdrama.com/sag-awards, PEOPLE.com and EW.com.
During the pre-show, actors Harry Shum Jr. (Crazy Rich Asians) and Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale) will be on-hand to announce the honorees for Outstanding Action Performances by Film and Television Stunt Ensembles.
